BLUE AND WHITE OUTDOOR FABRIC

I think I've mentioned before that I want to do a navy and orange color combo for our side yard patio set.  Since I painted the faux bamboo set red-orange, I decided to go with  blue and white outdoor fabric for the cushions.

If I weren't so cheap, I would probably go with one of Trina Turks outdoor fabrics...

I need 11 yards and I'm having the cushions professionally done so the costs could easily add up.

So I've rounded up some less expensive options...

All are from fabric.com.

I like the chinoiserie fabric in the middle but I'm leaning towards the navy options.
My favorites are the last 2 fabrics(bottom middle and right).
If I choose the bottom middle (Tempo Indoor/Outdoor Aztec Denim), I would do a contrasting red-orange piping.

If I do the bottom right (Tempo Madagascar Jacquard Denim Blue), I would do something like this...

(the orange being navy and the sides with the Madagascar fabric, also with contrasting piping.

Thoughts?

I am also linking up this post over at The Pink Pagoda.
Jennifer is hosting a Blue and White Party.
Hope to see you there!

How do you feel about burl veneer?
I love it and Mark agreed to a burl dining table (as long as I promise him it would be our last one).

Do you think burl wood veneer is here to stay?

PROJECT SIDEYARD: SHED AND AFFORDABLE FIRE PITS

Our shed is done!

(It's a cute 4x10 garden shed.  We had it custom made to match our house)

Currently, we are trying to figure out the fire pit.

Mark wants the flexibility of a portable one (more play space for the kids and he wants to make the ice rink bigger this year.)

Here are some affordable yet stylish fire pits...

Portable Fire Pits

1.  I actually like the look of this and is on sale at Stein's ($80!), a local garden and gift shop.  I am a little concerned  though that there might be too much chippendale going on with the faux bamboo set.

2.  I love the modern look of this Crate and Barrel fire pit.  It is massive and also on sale.

3.  Always a classic.

4.  The base reminds me of the spun fiberglass furniture.

5.  Pretty cool but very heavy!

6.  Not as cool as 5 but much lighter.

BUT

I, on the other hand, want a stone fire pit.

I think I've convinced Mark that this is the way to go.  Since we have concrete flooring now, I think we can DIY a semi permanent stone fire pit.
It's a good compromise, don't you think?!
(I may have promised him that I would move the fire pit come winter time)

Call me crazy.

CRAIGSLIST MONDAY: BRASS CANOPY BED

Oly Studio

If you follow me on Instagram(@mybestfriendcraig), you might have seen this chinoiserie bed I posted last week.
It was part of a set(seller was willing to break the set).  It was a great deal but 1 1/2 hours away.  I contemplated renting a truck just to get this baby.

I didn't get it.  And now the listing is gone.  Aaaghhh!!!

What was I thinking?!! Regretting this one big time.

CRAIGSLIST MONDAY: CHINESE ART DECO RUGS

I am currently obsessed with art deco rugs.

Nanette Lepore's dressing room via

Candida Fisher's Apartment

These rugs usually cost an arm and a leg so I am always searching CL for them.
Here's one that I've been eyeing for a few weeks now...

(love the colors and it is 10x14)

and some others that are pretty reasonably priced...

What do you think of Art Deco rugs?  Are you a fan?

PROJECT SIDE YARD: UPDATE

Our side yard is coming along.
The concrete was poured last week and we put our little stamp on it...the kids' fingerprints!

I also finished painting the faux bamboo patio set...
I found the perfect red-orange spray paint!  It is Krylon Fusion in Sun Dried Tomato.
Now I just have to figure out the cushion fabric and DIY a firepit.  The shed is going to be installed on Tuesday!
(I see a white cloth over that fireplace wall for movie nights!)

Have a great weekend!
