KIDS' BATHROOM: THE REVEAL

Here it is...

{black, white and green!  I made the roller shade using Swaying Palms fabric}

{Above are cutouts of the Uzbek fabric in onyx  from calico corners}

{my daughter's art}

{Although I still love the Aaron shower curtain,  I opted for a simple white one}

{I love the black hex tiles with the white border!}

Just to refresh your memory, here again is the before...

after...

Before...

and after...

Sorry it took me so long to show you the reveal.  I'm 99% happy with this bathroom.
  I love the crispness of the white but sometimes I think the walls need some color(paint or wallpaper) and am still undecided about the doors(paint it white or not).

What do you think?

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

RETAINING WALL AROUND A TREE

Thank you all for your great tips for the rummage sale!
We actually started yesterday and it went pretty well.  The kids had a blast.

While outside, I had the chance to take some pictures of a project we recently did...
placing a retaining wall around our Hickory tree.

This is how it looked like before...
{such an eyesore especially with all the haphazardly placed plants}

Now it looks more structured and it provides a great seating area while I watch the kids play in our cul-de-sac.

I'm running the rummage today then I'm off to Cali tomorrow for a wedding.  Be to sure to come back next week.  I'm finally done with the kids' bathroom!

Have a great weekend!

PREPARING FOR A RUMMAGE SALE

This weekend is our annual subdivision rummage.

This is going to be my first time selling and it's a bit overwhelming!
Any last minute tips for me?

BEFORE AND AFTER: STAIRCASE

It took us nearly 3 years to paint the staircase.

This is how it looked like when we first saw the house...

I painted the balusters white 5 months after...

Got rid of the runner a year after that...

After another 5 months, we had the risers professionally painted in white...

Then, I painted the newel posts high gloss black a couple of months ago...

Finally, last weekend I finished painting the handrails high gloss black too...

I love the modern feel of the black and white combined with the warmth of the wood.

Do you like it as much as I do?

ART AROUND THE HOUSE

Check out this great article about buying original art

Our art collection is on a shoestring budget...

{above and below photos are by up and coming Filipino artists}

{This is one exception.  It is one of my priced possessions.  It is by a National Filipino artist, Solomon Saprid, given to us by my parents}

{above and below photos are by local Milwaukee artists}

{This was an anniversary present from my husband.  It's a painting of our wedding church and is by a local New Jersey artist}

Do you collect art?

Have a great weekend!
